Note on Parking in Ann Arbor:

We strongly encourage any chapters travelling by car or renting a car to drive directly to the Symposium events. View the symposium parking map for lots, prices and rules. Parking is available in parking garages near the law school, especially off Willard at Forest Street (east of the law school). Student groups that drive will be able to more quickly and easily access the locations for the Friday evening reception and Saturday evening banquet without relying on bus transportation, which is available but limited. The Federalist Society will defray the cost of parking by reimbursing groups driving or renting cars for 50% of their mileage.

By Air

Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) is less than a half an hour east of Ann Arbor. We encourage the use of online travel websites to compare fares and find the best available departure time and price. Ann Arbor has eight local taxi services (see below for contact information). Each offers 24 hour service to/from the Airport (about $45-60 to downtown Ann Arbor).

By Train

Ann Arbor's Downtown Train Depot offers three eastbound (to Detroit and Pontiac) and three westbound (Kalamazoo and Chicago) trips daily. The Depot also provides buses certain evenings traveling to Toledo meeting an overnight train to the east coast. The Train Depot is open daily 7a.m. to 11:30p.m. Rates, schedules and other information are available at www.amtrak.com.

By Car

From the East/West

Take I-94 to Exit #177 (State Street) North. Follow State Street approximately 3 miles to the Law School.

From the North

Take US-23 South to Exit #3 (Downtown Ann Arbor) South to Main Street. Turn Left at William Street until William dead ends at Campus. Turn Right (South) on to State Street. The Law School is one block down on the left side.

From the South

Take US-23 North to I-94 West. Exit at #177 (State Street). Follow State Street approximately 3 miles to the Law School.

Symposium Parking

While parking in downtown Ann Arbor can be a challenge, there are several options for those seeking to park daily in Ann Arbor. The nearest garage is located at 324 Maynard St, Ann Arbor, one block west and two blocks north of the Law School. The garage charges $0.40 per ½ hour or any portion thereof. There is another public garage located at 650 S Forest Ave, Ann Arbor, approximately three blocks east of the Law School.

The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority Bus System also services two public park and ride lots. The nearest lot is the South State Street Commuter Lot on State Street North of Eisenhower, across from the Howard Cooper Auto Dealership. The AATA Bus Route 36 makes regular stops and drops passengers off directly in front of the Law School. The Green Road Park and Ride Lot on Green Road, just South of Plymouth Road is serviced by AATA Route 2, which stops two blocks north of the law school.

Ann Arbor Taxi Services

The meter rate is $2.50 to start, $2.10/mile, and $35/hour for waiting time.

Ann Arbor Bus System

Ann Arbor has an expansive and efficient Bus System (the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority, or "The Ride"), providing service to and from most hotel areas to downtown or elsewhere. The fare is $1.00 (drivers do not make change) and includes any bus transfers made. Route 36 (Wolverine Tower Shuttle) services the Briarwood/hotel area North along State Street and stops directly in front of the Law School. Route 2 services the Plymouth/US-23 hotel area and stops two blocks from the law school. Routes, times and other information available at www.theride.org.
