Purchase Carbon Offsets Now:

We have pre-screened and selected two vendors to sell carbon offsets for the Green OCI program. We believe these two companies have good customer service and national reputations for honesty, as well as good certification and calculation methodologies. Both have set up special sites for the Green OCI program.

Please estimate the flights (both recruiter and student flights) that will be made by your firm for the On-campus interview process at Michigan, and make your offset purchases accordingly. Overpurchases will be credited toward next years recruiting efforts. Firms will be expected to make up underpurchases by May 10, 2007. When you make a purchase, please return this form to us by email, so that we can list your firms participation for students to see.

NativeEnergy

Terrapass

NativeEnergy is a company majority-owned by Native Americans. NativeEnergy is working towards filling a gap in renewable energy project finance - green tag contracts are usually 1-5 years, too short to finance a project.  Instead, NativeEnergy buys a renewable energy projects future lifetime production of green tags, discounted to present value, and writes the project developer a check the developer can use to fund the project up front. NativeEnergy tries to fund small projects built by farmers or Native American tribes. NativeEnergy offsets sell for $12/ton.

TerraPass has been one of the leaders in making carbon offsets a consumer good - the company is bringing brand and market expertise to bear on the issue of marketing carbon offsets. TerraPass has formed partnerships with Ford Motor Co., among others. Their software, including a flight calculator, is easy to use. TerraPass offsets are composed of a combination of Green-e certified green tag purchases from biomass and wind projects and Chicago Climate Exchange purchases verified by the Center for Resource Solutions. TerraPass offsets sell for $9/ton.

If your firm would like to purchase from another vendor (some firms already have relationships with emissions offsets vendors), you are free to do so. If purchasing from another vendor, please submit documentation of your purchase along with this form. Please provide evidence that the vendor is selling Green-e certified tags or Chicago Climate Exchange offsets. We reserve the right to screen and exclude vendors. Please notify us if you have any questions about a vendor.
